The library contains over 30,000 items. The focus of the collection is K-12 education and native studies with a northern Saskatchewan flavour.
The collection features books, DVDs, VHS tapes, CDs, maps, posters, kits, picture books, easy readers, young adult and adult fiction, curriculum materials, journals, rare books and reference materials.
The library has a substantial amount of printed material in Cree and Dene, as well as the Champlain Society and Hudson Bay Record Society reprints, university theses focussing on northern Saskatchewan and a variety of rare, out-of-print books.
Audio-visual resources are housed in the library and may be borrowed. AV resources include wireless-enabled laptop computers, digital projectors, cameras, camcorders, and voice recorders, portable stereos and speakers, and VHS, CD, and DVD players.
The library is open to everyone, though only students, instructors and staff may borrow materials. Items may be borrowed for various lengths of time from same day to one month.
Library hours are 8 am to noon and from 1 pm to 5 pm, Monday to Friday. The library is not open on weekends and evenings, however is available to students for research and study on evenings when instructors hold seminars.
At present, there are nine computer workstations where students may conduct research and prepare assignments. The NORTEP-NORPAC library catalogue, the library catalogues of the Univesity of Saskatchewan and University of Regina, and a wide variety of licensed databases are available at these workstations.
A photocopier, printer and laminator are available to students and instructors for use in the library. Cards for photocopying and printing are purchased and topped-up in the library. USB memory keys are also available for purchase.
The NORTEP-NORPAC bookstore is situated next to the library and maintains the same hours, 8 am to 5 pm, Monday to Friday. The bookstore distributes course textbooks at the start of each semester. It also offers a limited selection of stationary and gift items for sale. Instructors submit orders for instructional support materials through the bookstore.
Library/Bookstore staff includes a librarian, library assistant and bookstore clerk.
